Johannes Itten

Johannes Itten
Johannes Itten was a Swiss painter. He lived from 1888 till 1967. The thing where he is the most famous for is the ’farbkreis’ (colourwheel in English). That is a colour theory that is based on three colours: blue, red, yellow. He said that you can make all colours you want if you put two of the three colours by each other with paint.
His life
He was born in Südern-Linden in Switzerland. When he was sixteen he studied to work as schoolteacher. Later he studied at the ‘Bern-Hofwil teacher academy.’ When he was finished with his study he worked at the Bauhaus (an art college in Germany). He was a little bit strange because he influenced his group. The whole group had the same clothes and that kind of things. In 1922 he left the Bauhaus because a conflict. In 1924 he started as director on the Zürich art academy. Johannes Itten died in 1967 in Zürich
The colourwheel
The colourwheel was built up by three layers: the primary layer in the centre with: blue, red and yellow Itten thought that that the basic colours are. Then  you have the secondary layer around the centre with: green, orange and purple. The last one is the tertiary layer with the primary and secondary colours mixed up with each other

essay over an art object

Here is my first assignment. The order was: Make a paper over an art object. My art object was the windmill of Spui.

The windmill was build in 1807, and his name is Eben Haëzer (latin for: hitherto hath the Lord help us).
There are many types of windmills, but the windmill on Spui ia a belt-mill.

First of all, I  went for an excursion in the windmill. During this excursion, the miller told us a nice  story about the history of the windmill.

The ''Eben Haëzer'' was the first windmill in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. It is interesting that the windmill is build of second hand stones. That was because there was not enough money for new stones.

During the excursion I saw very interesting things, such as the wooden gears, the muller, and the large wigs. It is also very interesting to see how they make in earlier times flower with this big buildings. There are very old things inside, and it is very interesting to are inside the windmill.
I have choose this building because it is in my village, and I like this building because it is genious how they make that kind of things.

The windmill is white of colour and the wigs are red with green.

If you want an excursion, you can go to the mill. The mill is opened on saturdays. The adres of the mill is Pootersdijk 4 at Spui.
